CLARIFY YOUR DOUBTS

Previous experience Is not required. However, participants can learn sailing maneuvers if they are interested. Most of our customers prefer to relax and enjoy the boat ride.

Yes! Join one of our shared groups! We have two groups most days: mornings on our Wake Up and Sail tour and afternoons on our Sunset in Rio tour! Check availability by checking the booking calendar on this website.

Yup. We will indicate the best points for these activities. In general, in the vicinity of the mouth of the bay, or outside of it, towards the outer islands, where the quality of the seawater is superior.

Shared tours do not follow a fixed route due to constant changes in wind direction and intensity as well as sea conditions. However, we always look for the best angles to contemplate the natural and historical monuments of Rio de Janeiro: Sugarloaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer, Flamengo, Botafogo, Urca, Icaraí, São Francisco, in Niterói, and Porto Maravilha beaches. When conditions allow, we switch to the ocean beaches of Rio or Niterói. Each tour is a unique experience!

In private tours, the decision on which route to take is made together with the client. The most frequent destinations are: beaches in Niterói, Historic Center, Praia Vermelha and Praia de Copacabana, on the shortest tours; and Ipanema Beach, Cagarras Archipelago and Oceanic Beaches on the longest.

All of the oceanic islands off the coast of Rio de Janeiro are protected by environmental law. As such, landings and fishing are not permitted. However, you will see many seabirds, such as frigate birds and boobies. With luck, you may see turtles, dolphins (May to August), whales (June to August) and rays on our longer tours.

Some people say sailing is “so easy and safe as long as you keep your head down when we manoeuvre”! This is probably true. Sailing is very safe! As far as the sailboat is concerned, we will guide you with regard to the critical points that you should know and also how to behave when we are in motion. Sailing is as safe as walking! And, at Sail in Rio, we are very aware of that. As with any other outdoor sport, understanding and respecting the elements of nature is essential for safety. We consult the best weather forecast sites to get accurate local information and make your boat trip as safe as possible.

Classified as open-seas sailing boats, Kamehameha and Makani Maikai are equipped with all necessary safety equipment, such as life jackets, rescue flares, fire extinguishers, VHF radio and others.

Motion sickness is very personal. However, it can be minimized by adopting good habits 24 hours before your boat tour, such as sleeping well, eating right and balanced, and avoiding alcoholic beverages.

Yes, feel free to bring your favorite items on board if you have booked a private tour. We will provide refrigerator and kitchenware as needed.

On shared tours, onboard service is included in the price.

Comfortable, light-colored/white clothing and white-soled shoes or running shoes are the best alternatives. We recommend bringing a light (in summer) or heavy (in winter) jacket, especially if you are sailing later in the day. Bring a swimming suit and towel, in case the sea conditions allow diving.

Not at all. We have boarded children as well as seniors on many different occasions. In such cases, we follow procedures and take special precautions, during boarding/disembarkation as well as during our boat trips, to ensure maximum comfort and safety for everyone on board.

We will meet at Marina da Glória. After concluding the booking process, you will receive instructions for our meeting point.
